Here is a daphadil growing in a field. It was planted a long time ago however no one has been around to nuture these bulbs, but they keep on blooming. I think it is what a marvel that these flowers bloom on their own. It is just beautiful to see these wonderful flowers bloom as in a surprise from no where. When you click on this flower it will bring you back to Flickr, open this image in the large format for the full effect. Thanks

River Bed01

River Bed01
River Bed01,
originally uploaded by wings4me1.
Down in the Baker Valley, there is a river that runs through it. I live so close to this magical river, that all I need do is roll out of bed, and I am there.
While on hike along the river, in a cove I came across I decided that the rocks under the clear water were very colorful. So, always with a camera or two on hand I decided to shoot these rocks.
Later, I downloaded the image into my laptop and started playing with it using Gimp.
I used contrast and light enhancements, and then I got out the burn tool and started bring out the bright oranges from the water. I could not believe my eyes, how fascinating that a simple photograph could carry so much magic.

When the children are gone

I no longer get up in the middle of the night to change and feed babies.
I no longer get up in the morning to feed, dress, and drive the children to school.
I no longer watch cartoons with the babies to make sure they were not contaminated which meant we did not watch a whole lot tv.
I no longer volunteer as a Girl Scout leader for two different troops, one for each girl.
I no longer run the synchronize swim team for the girls or volunteer for the swim team for the boy.
I no longer provide snacks for the soccer matches times three.
I no longer go to parent teacher meetings times three.
I no longer do homework at the kitchen table times three with two of the children having learning disabilities.
I no longer cook big meals.
I no longer bake bread, cookies, cakes, and other sugar products.
I no longer read to my children at bed time times three.
I no longer supervise bathtime times three or bedtimes times three.
I no longer come up with unique parties times three because as a single Mom, we did not have money for Chucky Cheese.
I no longer stay up at night waiting for the children to come home from dates and other activities times three.
Now, I wake up each morning and wonder what the hell I am going to do for the rest of the day. Oh, I know miss the children and work on my art.
Parenting is hard work, but priceless!

The Baker River

The Baker River runs along side where I live. Down in the valley there is an abandoned tree farm. From where I was shooting, you can barely make out the river. I think this capture has really great color tones, and I was gently surprised by the composition of the trees and river.
I guess you would say that this is a muted photograph.
